OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to compare the risk of surgical site infection with open vs laparoscopic cholecystectomy. METHODOLOGY: randomized control trial was done at Department Surgery, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, for 12 months from 11/5/2018 11/5/2019. 116 patients were recruited this study, 58 each group randomly allocated a by lottery method and concealed Allocation. Patients in Group A underwent cholecystectomy, while B According ward protocol, post-operative analgesia & antibiotics given both groups. Expert consultant general surgeons did all evaluation procedures; followed up 30 days after procedure any infections, if found, noted. RESULTS: The mean age 36 years ± 12.19 SD 38 11.88 respectively.
